ABOUT LUCY J

Lucy Johnston spent the first 14 years of her working life in TV & Film Production, but over the past few years has moved into the world of photography.

Having studied Photojournalism at the LCC (2006) and Documentary Photography in New York (2008), she currently works in portraiture, events and weddings as well as taking on her own photographic projects in the UK and abroad.

An example of one of these projects is shown in her ‘Zanzibar’ images where she spent a week getting to know the local villagers of Nungwi and photographing them in their natural habitat having built up a trust within the community.

This site includes work such as ‘Harvest at Jimmy’s’ and the ‘Notting Hill Carnival’ where her reportage style captures the essence of these events.

Lucy aims to avoid the clichés of wedding photography and to tell the story of the day as it happens. With consultations before the weddings, she develops a good bond with her clients enabling them to relax on the day and forget that the camera is there.Working with an assistant, she ensures that all aspects of the day are caught beautifully.Lucy also understands that each wedding is individual and is able to tailor her style to her client’s wishes.

With portraiture, Lucy works with individuals, corporations and families photographing them within their homes or workplaces,to not only make them feel at ease, but also to allow their locations to tell us more about the subjects.

Lucy has also worked as a Stills Photographer on film, television and commercial shoots as well as photographing homes and gardens in the UK and Ibiza.

Her photographs have been published in The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The London Paper and various magazines, as well as being used for promotional purposes.
